Fatma Samoura is a Senegalese diplomat who currently serves as the Secretary-General of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), the international governing body of football. She was the first woman and African to hold this position, which she assumed in 2016. Before joining FIFA, Samoura worked for the United Nations for over 20 years, where she served in various senior roles in several countries, including Nigeria, Chad, Guinea, Djibouti, Madagascar, and Cameroon. She is recognized for her expertise in implementing sustainable development programs and managing large-scale humanitarian operations in complex environments. In 2018, Forbes included her in their list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women.
